Many of you have shared with me that you're not sure how you will cover the healthcare bills you and your family are facing - and that was before news that healthcare premiums could increase by as much as 25% next year. We need to have an honest conversation about where we go from here. My colleagues and I are working on a better way to help all Americans receive quality healthcare that is actually affordable. Our plan will offer more choices to lower costs, advance cutting-edge cures and treatments, ensure that regardless of age, income, medical conditions, or circumstances you won’t be turned away, and it will work towards a stronger Medicare. As you know, I have never been in favor of Obamacare, but I am going to continue to do everything I can to find a solution that lifts this unfair, and incredibly costly, burden from your family. Continuing the Fight for Main St.: I am proud to be the Chairman of the House Committee on Financial Services Oversight & Government Reform Subcommittee where I can stand up for rural America against unaccountable bureaucrats in Washington D.C. I am also working to rein in the gigantic Dodd-Frank bill which has failed its primary purpose of preventing "too big to fail" (the big banks are actually bigger now!) and has ensnared our community banks (who didn't cause the financial crisis) with regulations that are hampering their ability to lend to small businesses and families who desperately need it. America's financial banking system is the envy of the world. My job is to protect it from corruption on Wall Street, as well as the excesses and inefficiencies of big and ever-growing, intrusive government: On the home front: News that Rusk County Sheriff's Deputy Dan Glaze was killed in the line of duty Saturday night left our community shaken, saddened and mad. My hat is off to the Rusk County Sheriff's Department, and the surrounding police forces, for quickly apprehending the suspect; my family's deepest condolences and prayers go out to the Glaze family, and the entire police community, for this horrific loss. If I should receive word of a public memorial service, I will share that information on my Facebookpage. On a lighter note, I hope all of the ghosts and goblins have a great time trick-or-treating tonight.
