Mr. Zondlo suffered extensive injuries during an enemy raid in Chu Lai, Vietnam on June 10, 1969. Multiple explosions knocked him unconscious and left him with gaping wounds and painful burns. However, Mr. Zondlos drive to protect his fellow serviceman that day still rang through. Not only is Mr. Zondlo is an exemplary serviceman but a remarkable American citizen as well, Rep. Duffy said. To swallow the pain of ones own injuries in the effort to protect another is true heroism and, for that, Mr. Zondlo deserves our highest respect. Rep.
