"EPA's announcement is an improvement in restoring integrity for the RFS, but there is much more work to be done to undo the Small Refinery Exemption abuses and the demand destruction SRE's have caused South Dakota's ethanol industry. I will continue to work with the administration to remove regulatory barriers and encourage ethanol exports across the world." In May, along with Agriculture Committee Chairman Peterson, Johnson introduced the Renewable Fuel Standard Integrity Act of 2019 which establishes an annual June 1st deadline for refineries to submit small refinery exemption (SRE) petitions from their RFS blending obligations each year and increases transparency in the process.
