It also follows several previous meetings and frequent communication with local USPS leadership. The Congresswoman wrote: “I write to express my deep concern regarding prevalent United States Postal Service (USPS) issues in the El Paso region that have been brought to my attention by constituents and postal workers alike. With matters ranging from delayed mail delivery at collection boxes and delayed fleet transition for postal workers, I am respectfully requesting the Office of Inspector General to begin a formal investigation…” “My office consistently receives USPS casework inquiries, and recently we have seen an uptick in the number of El Pasoans who have not been receiving mail at their designated cluster box for months on end… These individuals have had their lives interrupted because many still rely on USPS to deliver items like medicine, general billing, and more.” “Postal workers in my district shared frustrations about the outdated and non-functioning fleet. This includes a lack of air conditioning in vehicles in a region that can experience multiple 100-degree days during the summer months.” “I sent a letter to Postmaster [Cindi J.] Tabbot in which I emphasized my community’s needs for answers to casework issues, updates on current and future operations and maintenance, staffing challenges, and infrastructure needs. The time frame for a response has now passed, and my office has yet to receive a response from the Postmaster.” Congresswoman Escobar requested that Inspector General Hull investigate operations at 14 El Paso-area post offices, after citing urgent concerns regarding delivery delays, fleet reliability, employee morale, and fractured communication between management and local union leadership in her letter to Postmaster Tabbot.
