Ron Estes (R-Kansas) took the oath of office to represent the 4th District of Kansas in the U.S. House of Representatives. Since taking office, he has been appointed to the House Ways and Means Committee, the oldest and one of the most influential committees in the House with jurisdiction over trade, taxes, Social Security, and health care. He also serves on the bicameral Joint Economic Committee. "It has been an honor to serve the people of Kansas and to take our common sense values to our nation's capital," said Rep. Estes. "We've accomplished a lot in five years, but much more needs to be done to strengthen our economy, elections, southern border, and our nation in the years to come." Rep. Estes was instrumental in passing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, authored and worked with bipartisan and bicameral colleagues on the Aviation Manufacturing Jobs Protection Act, served as a member of the House Republican whip team to ensure passage of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, supported common sense proposals to address the crisis at our southern border, protected seniors and future retirees with two bills included in the recently-passed major bipartisan SECURE 2.0 legislation, prevented chemical testing at Chilocco near south central Kansas communities, encouraged the enactment of the Title X Protect Life Rule, and prevented air traffic control privatization that would have decimated rural airports. Outside of legislation, Rep. Estes and his office have assisted hundreds of individuals with constituent services issues, being a liaison between federal agencies and Kansans. The office has assisted constituents with casework involving many federal agencies including the IRS, Social Security Administration, Veterans Administration, Small Business Administration, Department of State and others. Rep. Estes and his district office most recently assisted two Kansans trapped and in danger in a remote area of Costa Rica that was being invaded by Nicaraguan rebels.
