JENKINS: COURT PUSHES BACK ON EPA OVERREGULATIONS 2015-10-09 2015 2015-10 Republican House WV Evan Jenkins J000297 evanjenkins.house.gov     legacy WASHINGTON U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) issued the following statement today on the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals stay of the Waters of the United States rule: The Sixth Circuit was right to put the brakes on the implementation of yet another disastrous EPA rule from the Obama administration. The federal government is using rules like the Waters of the United States to impose more regulations on West Virginians, and these rules are crushing our economy and costing families their jobs. This administrations continued disregard for the impact of its regulations on working families, farmers and small businesses must be stopped. Attorney General Patrick Morrisey has led the charge in the courts to defend West Virginians and rein in the EPA, and I commend him for his advocacy on this important issue, Rep. Jenkins said. In May, Rep. Jenkins voted to block implementation of the Waters of the United States rule. H.R. 1732, the Regulatory Integrity Protection Act, passed the U.S. House of Representatives on May 11 by a vote of 261-155. This bill would require the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to withdraw the rule and rework it with input from states, local governments, and other stakeholders before proposing a new definition. The Energy and Water Appropriations bill, passed by the House at the end of April, included language preventing the Army Corps of Engineers from using any funds in the bill to develop or implement any changes to the existing definition of federal jurisdiction of waters of the United States under the Clean Water Act. Rep. Jenkins is a member of the House Appropriations Committee. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
