JENKINS: HIGHWAY BILL INVESTS IN WEST VIRGINIAS FUTURE 2015-11-05 2015 2015-11 Republican House WV Evan Jenkins J000297 evanjenkins.house.gov     legacy WASHINGTON U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) issued the following statement today after the U.S. House of Representatives passed a six-year highway bill: For the past six years, Washington has been unable to find a long-term solution for our nations crumbling roads and bridges, passing piecemeal, temporary spending bills. That ends now. The Houses six-year highway bill provides hundreds of billions in funds to reinvest in our roads, repair failing bridges, and create jobs. Our state transportation departments will have the funding, certainty and tools they need to move forward on multi-year highway projects like King Coal Highway, Tolsia Highway, Coalfields Expressway and Route 10. Roads are not built overnight they require years of planning and consistent, reliable funding. This bill provides just that. Democrats and Republicans alike support this transportation bill. When we work together, we can achieve great things for our state and our nation. Providing strong and reliable funding for our roads and bridges has been one of my top priorities in my first year in Congress, and I will continue to fight for the resources West Virginia needs to grow our economy and invest in our future. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
