Evans' requests are included in a bill that the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee approved today. "I'm pleased the committee saw the merit of the $19.6 million in transportation funding requests I made for Philadelphia, and I hope the full House will be voting on this bill in the next few weeks. These projects would create jobs and improve public safety, as well as advance equity and economic inclusion and improve quality of life in neighborhoods that have been disinvested in for too long. Projects like these are an important part of building back better after the pandemic and the recession," Evans said. "I was also pleased to work with my colleagues Congressman Brendan Boyle and Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon on securing funding in this bill for two projects that would help residents in both of our districts – accessibility improvements at the Erie station on SEPTA's Broad Street Line, and Cobbs Creek Parkway multimodal safety improvements, respectively. "This bill would build on the big and bold American Rescue Plan, which I was proud to vote for. The Rescue Plan is bringing billions of dollars in federal aid to Philadelphia, and I'm also pushing for more funding through avenues like my $63 billion Housing Is Essential plan, as well as President Biden's proposed American Jobs Plan.
