| https://faso.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=765 | Faso Supports Increased Accountability Measures at the VA | 2017-12-06 | 2017 | 2017-12 | Republican | House | NY | John Faso | F000464 | faso.house.gov | legacy | Washington DC – Today, Rep. John Faso voted to increase accountability measures at the VA by supporting the bipartisan Enhancing Veteran Care Act. The proposal would allow for Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) directors to contract with accredited third-party organizations to investigate their healthcare facilities. “Our veterans deserve high-quality care from experienced and caring professionals,” said Faso. “These are benefits that they have earned through their service and sacrifice to our country. Unfortunately, we’ve seen far too many incidents across the country that don’t meet an acceptable standard. I am proud to support this bipartisan bill and ensure we are taking real steps to improve quality of care for America’s veterans.” The legislation is supported by The American Legion and the Paralyzed Veterans of America. It has previously passed the Senate by unanimous consent and is now on the way to the President’s desk for signature. Background In June, Congressman Faso voted in support of legislation to crack down on problem employees at the VA while protecting whistleblowers who exposed problems at VA clinics. Congressman Faso previously introduced bipartisan legislation to reauthorize the Appropriate Technology Transfer for Rural Areas program (ATTRA). The legislation makes reliable resources available to veterans looking to start in the agriculture industry. Earlier this year, Congressman Faso voted in support of Veterans Appeal Improvement and Modernization Act to improve the VA’s broken appeals process, which contains close to 500,000 pending appeals. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
