https://faso.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=771 Faso Signs on to Bipartisan Plan that Includes SALT Fix 2017-12-11 2017 2017-12 Republican House NY John Faso F000464 faso.house.gov     legacy Faso Signs on to Bipartisan Plan that Includes SALT Fix f t # e Washington, December 11, 2017 Washington, D.C. - Congressman John Faso (R-Kinderhook) signed on to a bipartisan plan that would fully reinstate the state and local tax deduction (SALT) currently left out of the House and Senate tax reform proposals. The plan also maintains the medical expense deduction and student loan interest deduction, which have been additional key concerns of Congressman Faso’s. “I want to support a tax reform bill, but I have consistently stated that I will only do so if a bill helps New York’s economy and lowers the taxes of all hardworking New York families. The bills passed in both the House and Senate fail to meet these requirements,” said Faso.  “Families and successful businesses are already leaving our state due to the high state taxes and we cannot accelerate this trend. The bipartisan plan I am supporting to fully restore the SALT deduction and other important deductions is a common-sense fix that will help New York families and our local economy.” The full plan was sent to the conference committee negotiating differences between the House and Senate tax reform bills. Congressman Faso voted against the House version of tax reform due to concerns that the bill would negatively affect New York families by eliminating the SALT and medical expense deductions.  f t # e 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
