Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) applauded the House passage of the Stop Insider Trading Act, legislation he helped introduce earlier this year. The bill prohibits Members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children from purchasing individual stocks in publicly traded companies while serving in office. It also requires Members to provide at least seven days' public notice before selling any individual stocks, helping to prevent Members of Congress from profiting from insider information. “I have always believed that serving as a Member of Congress should be about service to the people, and should never be a profession where personal wealth can be made at the expense of our constituents,” said Rep.
