In the hours that followed, Secretary Kristi Noem publicly defended the actions of the agents and characterized the shooting as justified. I strongly disagree with Secretary Noem’s statements. By prematurely excusing the use of lethal force and framing this killing as justified, she has shown reckless and indefensible judgment. Federal agents are not hired to violate the constitutional rights of American citizens, and no public official should attempt to normalize or excuse such actions before a full and transparent investigation is complete. This abuse of authority represents a dangerous failure of leadership and a betrayal of public trust. For these reasons, I will be calling for the following: 1. A full joint federal and state investigation, 2. President Trump to put an immediate pause on ICE operations in Minnesota, 3. Secretary Kristi Noem’s immediate resignation. Accountability must be real and meaningful, and restoring public confidence in our institutions means having leaders who respect the rule of law, human life, and the limits of their power.” ### 1 2026-04-04T05:28:40Z 2026-04-04T05:30:10Z
