Figures (AL-02) announced that funding for four rural hospitals in Alabama’s Second District successfully passed the House Appropriations Committee, bringing the Congressman one step closer to again delivering millions of dollars for critical community projects in Alabama. Funding for these projects is included in the final FY’27 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill. The bill must still be voted on in the House and passed by the Senate before it heads to the President’s desk and becomes law. “Access to healthcare is a critical issue for my district because we are at risk of losing nearly every rural hospital in the next few years if we don’t act,” said Congressman Figures. “This funding would be instrumental not only to keeping hospitals open, but also to protecting hundreds of jobs and positioning these communities to maintain and recruit businesses and industry.” Figures secured the following in the Appropriations bill voted out of Committee: $2,000,000 for Troy Regional Medical Center to help modernize and replace equipment that hasn’t met current healthcare standards, enhance patient safety, improve emergency readiness, and ensure dependable care for the surrounding rural communities. $750,000 for Crenshaw Community Hospital to establish a dialysis center in the county to alleviate the burden on patients who are currently forced to travel long distances to other facilities and transportation barriers that lead to missed or delayed care. $750,000 for Monroe County Hospital to help replace its nearly 40-year-old HVAC system, which is critical to infection control, air quality, and stable conditions for patient recovery. $750,000 for Washington County Hospital to fund facility updates that will improve the quality of care for patients and nursing home residents. | 1 | 2026-06-27T21:44:12Z | 2026-06-27T22:11:26Z |
