This legislation would make permanent the newly established National Fraud Enforcement Division within the Department of Justice (DOJ) and appoint an Assistant Attorney General for National Fraud Enforcement to lead the division to investigate, prosecute, and prevent fraud within federally funded programs. “In Minnesota, we’ve seen the systematic failure of Governor Walz and his administration refusing to investigate fraudsters and safeguard Americans’ hard-earned taxpayer dollars,” said Rep. Finstad. “Meanwhile, the Trump Administration and the Department of Justice have taken decisive action, including establishing the National Fraud Enforcement Division to investigate and prosecute those who steal or fraudulently misuse taxpayer dollars.” Finstad continued, “I’m proud to see my National Fraud Enforcement Division Act of 2026 pass in the House today, codifying the National Fraud Enforcement Division within the DOJ and establishing a permanent framework to strengthen our federal fraud prosecution efforts.” 1 2026-09-17T09:52:05Z 2026-09-17T09:53:00Z
