A Secretarial disaster designation makes farm operators in primary and contiguous counties eligible to be considered for certain assistance from FSA, provided eligibility requirements are met. “I’m encouraged to see USDA appropriately designate Jefferson, Waukesha, and Walworth Counties as primary and contiguous disaster areas. Farm operators in Wisconsin are no strangers to cold weather and the havoc it wreaks on crop production. I hope this designation will provide farmers in the Fifth Congressional District with the assistance they need to recover from the freezing damage that occurred earlier this year,” said Congressman Fitzgerald. Farm operators in Jefferson, Waukesha, and Walworth Counties may be eligible for USDA assistance.
