Congresswoman Fletcher toured Brays Bayou for an update on Segment 4 of Brays Bayou Federal Flood Damage Reduction Project (Project Brays) and surveyed the progress of the new Chimney Rock Bridge. Project Brays, a $480 million effort, is the largest partnership project by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Harris County Flood Control to date. “The need for action in Texas is clear and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will deliver for Texas,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher. “With billions in funds directed to the Army Corps of Engineers and $500 million slated for Texas’ bridges alone, the new law will make a tremendous difference in our ability to make transformational investments like this one for our community.” Among its provisions, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will: Provide $7 billion to USACE for resiliency infrastructure projects, including set-asides for Coastal Storm Risk Management/Hurricane and Storm Damage Reduction Projects, Inland Flood Risk Management Projects and Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration Projects, targeting states like Texas that have been impacted by federally declared disasters over the last six years.
