The event featured VA Houston Deputy Medical Director Lindsey Crain, MHA, FACHE; Combined Arms Texas Veterans Network Executive Director Mia Garcia; and City of Houston Office of Veterans and Military Affairs Director Robert Dembo III, USN. “Houston is home to one of the largest military veteran populations in the country and we have a duty to serve our veteran community,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher. “I was glad to convene this town hall and provide support for veterans and their families. I am so grateful for the work of our panelists, and I look forward to continuing to work together to honor veterans’ contributions to our country.” In September, Congresswoman Fletcher’s bill, the Advancing Uniform Transportation Opportunities (AUTO) for Veterans Act, H.R. 3004, passed the House. This bill expands the eligibility for disabled veterans to obtain vehicles modified for their disabilities. Earlier this year, she voted for the Honoring Our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act, H.R. 3967, to ensure and expand benefits for all veterans who have been exposed to toxic substances.
