The University of Nebraska Medical Center is now the nation's, and soon a global, leader in infectious disease and many other categories of disease research and education. That happens because there is a vision and a team of committed leadersstate, federal and localwho pull together to overcome obstacles to keep our national health security sound. Fortenberry said. Through their sacrificial giving, Nebraska's charitable community has again empowered those of us entrusted with the extraordinary position of leadership in government to do things that are smart, visionary, and fiscally sound. Thanks to this remarkable public-private collaboration, the Davis Global Center will keep the University of Nebraska Medical Center at the leading edge of health care treatment, teaching, training, and research, Fortenberry added. "The impressive new Davis Global Center will house the iEXCEL Program, a transformative model for health education that incorporates advanced simulation and visualization technologies to improve patient care. It will also house the Global Center for Health Security, which I helped fund the through the Appropriations process in Washington. It is a key component of our nation's bio-preparedness for high-impact diseases like COVID-19, Fortenberry said.
