The House bill advances national security, food security, environmental security, and health care security for Nebraska, America, and the world. A key component of the bill is a responsible COVID relief package for individuals, families, and small business. While we have made great progress in fighting through the pandemic, with large-scale vaccine distribution already in progress, many Americans are still hurting badly, necessitating additional federal support, Fortenberry said Qualified persons will receive a $600 payment. Persons suffering unemployment will receive $300 in extra payments. And we continue funding the hugely successful Paycheck Protection Program. The PPP has been a lifeline for small business, saving over 300,000 jobs in Nebraska. We lead the nation in per capita PPP loans approved, Fortenberry added. The omnibus appropriations bill and COVID relief package are expected to be quickly approved by the Senate, and then signed into law by the President, Fortenberry said. Congressman Jeff Fortenberry (NE-01) is the Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
