Today, Congressman Rooney voted in favor of boosting America's economic prosperity by supporting the passage of the United States Mexico Trade Agreement (USMCA).Congressman Rooney stated, Since its introduction, I have consistently urged my colleagues in Congress to support the USMCA as an important framework for increasing economic prosperity, trade and security in the western hemisphere. Strengthening trade relationships with our neighbors, Canada and Mexico, has collateral benefits like increased cooperation on regional security challenges, dealing with the movement of illegal drugs and guns, and working to curb human trafficking. The United States has more immediately at stake with Mexico than any other country in the world. We are their largest trading partner and they are our third largest. Over 70 percent of Mexico's total imports come from the United States, $265 billion worth of U.S. goods in 2018, and another $34 billion in services. Moreover, 70 percent of the parts in a typical Mexican product originate in the United States. If Mexico succeeds, the U.S. economy benefits.
