| https://gabbard.house.gov/news/in-the-news/khon2-hawaii-representatives-introduce-talia-s-law-capitol-hill | KHON2: Hawaii representatives introduce Talias Law on Capitol Hill | 2015-11-06 | 2015 | 2015-11 | Democrat | House | HI | Tulsi Gabbard | G000571 | gabbard.house.gov | legacy | Hawaii representatives Tulsi Gabbard and Mark Takai introduced a bill on Capitol Hill Tuesday aimed at protecting children of military families. Talias Law was named in honor of five-year-old Talia Williams, who was beaten to death by her father, then-Army soldier Naeem Williams, in 2008 after suffering years of abuse. They were stationed at Schofield Barracks at the time, along with his wife, Delilah Williams, who also admitted guilt in a plea deal. Tarshia Williams, the girls biological mother, said the military missed many opportunities to report the abuse. Gabbard explained the bill would require military officials to immediately report suspected cases of abuse to state Child Protective Services. We owe it to our service members, their families, and thousands of children like Talia to disrupt the status quo and stop another decade of preventable child abuse. Naeem Williams was sentenced to life in prison in February. Delilah Williams is serving 20 years. Tarshia Williams settled with the government for $2 million in June. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
