She will attend the United States Air Force's historic change of command ceremony at which General Herbert J. Carlisle will relinquish command of Pacific Air Forces to General Lori J. Robinson, the first female general to head the Air Force in the Pacific and the first non-pilot to command air power in such a large theater of operation. The congresswoman will host an Employment Resources Roundtable meeting with leaders from the 25th Infantry Division, U.S. Department of Labor, Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, U.S. Veterans Initiative, and select regional businesses that focus on career opportunities for transitioning military members. The group will address routine attrition, impending downsizing, and how existing community resources can be connected to the active duty military community and veterans seeking employment. Rep. Gabbard will also deliver keynote remarks at the first-ever Kauai Women Veterans Conference, the 239th Navy Birthday Ball hosted by the United States Pacific Fleet, the Pacific Islands Women in Leadership seminar, and the Aloha Shriners Club banquet. NOTE: Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard may be unable to accept media inquiries or respond to congressional requests for interviews and statements on/after October 17 as she will be called up for military state active duty with the Hawaii Army National Guard's Ana Task Force, which will be focused on damage projection prior to the storm's impact, assessment after the storm passes, and assistance to residents and area officials.
