https://gabbard.house.gov/news/press-releases/rep-tulsi-gabbard-supports-us-india-relations-her-opposition-hres-417 Rep. Tulsi Gabbard Supports U.S.-India Relations in Her Opposition to H.Res. 417 2013-12-18 2013 2013-12 Democrat House HI Tulsi Gabbard G000571 gabbard.house.gov     legacy Washington, DC U.S. Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) today released the following statement announcing she will not supportH.Res. 417: India is a democratic multi-cultural and multi-faith society, and shares many common values and strategic interests with the United States. It is critically important that we focus on strengthening the ties between the two nations, and I do not believe that H.Res. 417 accomplishes this. Throughout history, India as a nation has been home to many religions, and has protected many as well, including Tibetan Buddhists, Jews, Christians, and Muslims. India has also produced some of the great religions of the world in Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, and Sikhism. I will continue my outreach with the Indian American community, and my focus on strengthening the U.S.-India relationship as we work together on addressing issues related to religious freedom and human rights around the world. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
