It's an initiative we've been following for years, which Rep. Gallagher (R-Green Bay) is carrying on from his predecessor in the 8th Congressional District, Reid Ribble. The project aims to get rid of phosphorous, nitrogen and polluted sediment from the waters of Green Bay and Lake Michigan. "It basically brings together all the stakeholders, whether it's our farmers in Northeast Wisconsin, whether it is those concerned about the environment, clean water, clean air. It discusses, best practices, right? Making sure we can support a robust agriculture industry without having runoff into the bay, into our rivers," Gallagher said. "So now the next stage in our focus next year is going to be, how do we pool our resources and really go in offense and start spreading these practices and really go beyond Northeast Wisconsin and get some of my colleagues involved in the discussion as well."
