Here are a few things you may have missed due to the impeachment craziness here in Washington. 1. Booming Jobs Numbers It's been almost two years since the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was enacted, and guess what? The economy just keeps booming. The most recent jobs report showed that our economy created 266,000 jobs in November, bringing the unemployment rate to 3.5% -- a 50 year low. Wages are rising and unemployment is falling, which is great news for Northeast Wisconsin. 2.A Deal on USMCA President Trump signed the USMCA more than a year ago. And after months of Speaker Pelosi playing political games, she finally decided it was important and came to an agreement with the Trump Administration. This is big news for Wisconsin and big news for America. And as Rep. Gallagher said, "It's about damn time." 3. Action on Cartels In light of recent cartel-related violence in Mexico, Rep. Gallagher introduced two bills that support Mexico's anti-corruption campaign and ensure thugs in Mexican cartels are met with the full force of the law. Criminal organizations like these are tearing our communities and families apart. It's time we get serious about dealing with them. 4. A Win for our Troops Congress' most important role is to provide for the common defense, and the National Defense Authorization Act that passed the House this week takes important steps to do that. It continues bipartisan work to build a 355 ship Navy, gets tough on China, and most importantly, gives our troops a well-deserved pay raise. And it passed with overwhelming bipartisan support. 5. No Budget, No Pay There are four working days left in the year for Congress, yet we still don't have a bill put together to fund the government. As Rep. Gallagher has said time and again, this is insane.
