Today, Congressman Mike Gallagher announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) will award Brown County a $19.8 million Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant to help fund the State Trunk Highway (STH) 29 and County Highway VV Interchange Project. Over the last year, Rep. Gallagher has been in contact with DOT to help secure the grant money. The nearly $20 million in grant money will be a significant driver of economic development and jobs for not only Hobart and Howard, but for all of Brown County. I was proud to help secure this critical funding and I'm excited to see the project move forward. U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao: The Department is committed to following through on the President's commitment to rebuild our country's infrastructure by investing in road, rail, transit, and port projects, to strengthen economic growth, increase competitiveness and improve quality of life. Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach: Congressman Gallagher went to bat for Northeast Wisconsin by securing funding that will help continue our growth and economic development. Background: This project will eliminate the STH 29 and County Highway U intersection, and replace the existing State Trunk Highway (STH) 29 and County Highway VV intersection with a full-access interchange intersection which will include: sidewalks, striped on-street bicycle lanes, and roundabouts at the ramp terminals and nearby intersections.
