Mike Gallagher (WI-08) today announced that the Door County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC) received a $550,000 investment to help small businesses impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic. Theinvestment, which was awarded by the U.S. Economic Development Association (EDA), can be used to "alleviate sudden and severe economic dislocation caused by the pandemic, provide permanent resources to support economic resiliency, and further the long-term economic adjustment objectives of the region served by this EDA investment." Small businesses across Door County have faced enormous challenges over the course of these past few months,said Rep. Gallagher. This funding will play a critical role in supporting these businesses as we rebuild our economy, and I'm glad we're seeing continued benefits from the CARES Act here in Northeast Wisconsin. "DCEDC has worked with the U.S. Department of Education, Economic Development Administration (EDA) for several years to provide resources that support Door County businesses. The majority of Door County businesses have less than four employees and were very vulnerable to COVID-19 impacts.We are excited to have been granted $550,000 to establish a special low interest Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) to assist Door County businesses with economic recovery resulting from COVID-19.
