Garbarino. "Our law enforcement officers need proper equipment to combat crime and effectively perform their duties. This is a matter of public safety and to ensure our officers have the tools they need to serve and protect,” said Rep. Garbarino. “These vehicles will help the Amityville Police Department modernize its fleet of police vehicles in order to better protect Amityville and the families and businesses that call this community home. I thank Mayor Siry and the Village of Amityville for working with my office to submit the funding request that allowed for the purchase of these vehicles. Siry, Village of Amityville. Amityville was awarded $210,000 in the Fiscal Year 2023 Appropriations bill through a Community Project Funding request that Rep. Garbarino submitted on behalf of the Village of Amityville during the appropriations process. The funds were designated to replace the Amityville Police Department’s aging and out-of-date cruisers. Specifically, the funding was awarded as a grant through the Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Program.
