https://gianforte.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/permanent-legislative-solution-needed-paradise-valley-gianforte-says Permanent Legislative Solution Needed for Paradise Valley, Gianforte Says 2018-10-08 2018 2018-10 Republican House MT Greg Gianforte G000584 gianforte.house.gov     legacy Congressman Greg Gianforte released the following statement today after Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke announced a 20-year withdrawal of mineral rights for approximately 30,000 acres in Paradise Valley: Today's administrative action is a positive step forward, but we still have a ways to go. The Paradise Valley community has been clear that it wants a permanent withdrawal, and I will continue working to enact a permanent legislative solution so the gateway to Yellowstone is protected for future generations of Montanans. Background: On September 26, 2018, Gianforte guided his Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act, H.R. 4644, through the House Natural Resources Committee. The committee approved Gianforte's bill with a 28-4 vote. On September 21, 2018 and following a request (HERE) from Gianforte on September 17, the U.S. Forest Service recommended that approximately 30,000 acres in Paradise Valley be protected with a long-term withdrawal of mineral rights. On June 21, 2018, the House Natural Resource Committee's Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources conducted a hearing on Gianforte's Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act. On March 8, 2018, Gianforte sent a letter (HERE) to leaders of the House Appropriations Committee requesting they include his Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act in a larger appropriations bill. On December 14, 2017, Gianforte introduced the Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act, H.R. 4644, to withdraw mineral rights and ban mining operations on 30,000 acres of public land in an area north of Yellowstone National Park. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
