The funding, which passed the Senate yesterday and is expected to head to the president’s desk for his signature this week, will be used to establish three Manufacturing Training Innovation Centers (MTICs). “Growing Maine’s manufacturing workforce requires thoughtful investments in our training programs,” said Congressman Golden. “This funding will go a long way towards bringing the training to more young Mainers across the state. I’m grateful to UMaine for their partnership in securing this funding.” “Our state is a leader in the aerospace and defense manufacturing industry with a reputation for unmatched quality, but it needs an agile, well-trained workforce to stay competitive for federal contracts and to continue providing good-paying careers to Mainers,” said John Belding, director of the University of Maine Advanced Manufacturing Center. “We are incredibly grateful to Rep. Golden and Sens.
