To be considered for an appointment to a service academy, applicants must be nominated by an authorized nominating source, which includes Members of Congress. “I’m proud to nominate this exceptional group of young Mainers to offer their many talents in service of this nation. It is an honor to play a small role in the journey of these accomplished students,” said Golden. The nominees were interviewed by a panel on their academic record, test scores, leadership ability, involvement in extracurricular activities, and exemplified commitment to serving their country.
