To be considered for an appointment to a service academy, applicants must be nominated by an authorized nominating source, which includes Members of Congress. This group represents some of Maine's most talented, skilled and accomplished students. They have all demonstrated great leadership, high academic standards, and most importantly, a desire to serve, said Golden. These nominees should be proud of all they've accomplished. I would be honored to have these talented candidates represent the Second District, and it's my privilege to nominate them. Nominees were interviewed by a panel of five about their academic record, test scores, leadership ability, involvement in extracurricular activities and commitment to serving their country.
