Wade decision: “An essential part of freedom is control over your own body, and women's reproductive rights are inseparable from that,” Golden said. “Roe v. Wade’s affirmation of those freedoms in our Constitution was not only the correct legal decision but one that upheld the moral dignity of personal autonomy. The American people — and Congress itself — cannot stop until that basic human right is restored.” Golden has been a strong advocate for women’s reproductive freedom throughout his time in public office. Today he announced he will vote against H.R. 21 later this week — vague legislation designed to intimidate doctors in places where abortion is still legal. Golden will also be an original cosponsor of both the Right to Contraception Act and Women’s Health Protection Act upon their introduction this Congress — the latter of which would enshrine abortion rights for patients and providers and create federal protection against medically unnecessary restrictions on abortion. In 2022 he cosponsored the Ensuring Access to Abortion Act, which would prohibit restrictions on traveling out-of-state to receive an abortion or ordering drugs approved for terminating a pregnancy through the mail. In the wake of the Dobbs v. Jackson ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade, Golden called the decision a “grave mistake” and added that Congress should codify the Roe and Casey v.
