The project will receive an initial award of $50 million to support the project development phase. Funding will become available as the project progresses over the next two years. The award is provided through last year’s previously announced $600 million for the South Texas DAC facility made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law-funded Regional Direct Air Capture (DAC) Hubs program. “I’m grateful that this state-of-the-art-project is on track and that South Texas ingenuity and grit will lead to its completion,” said Congressman Gonzalez. “Thanks to this initial funding and our public-private partnerships, we are creating a healthier planet right here in Kleberg County. I am proud to continue to support the work that we, as South Texans, can achieve in mitigating the harmful effects of carbon dioxide.” The South Texas DAC Hub – one of only two in the nation – is expected to create approximately 2,500 jobs in construction, operations, and maintenance. Once completed, this facility will remove approximately 1 million metric tons of carbon dioxide annually. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T21:57:20Z
