In 2017, Congressman Gonzalez introduced H.R. 3429,the Repatriate Our Patriots Act, that would create a pathway to citizenship for deported veterans who held a clean record prior to military service. Carlos Torres served this country, and in return, this country failed him. After serving in the U.S. Army, on the front lines in the Vietnam War, Mr. Torres was denied a path to citizenship and deported. He fought for a home that turned him away, and in the end, he neversawthat home again. There is no excuse for this. No military service member should die in vain.
