TheWater and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Programhelps communities and organizations provide long-term, low interest loans for clean and reliable drinking water systems, sanitary sewage and waste disposal, and storm water drainage to households and businesses in eligible rural areas. It is crucial that Central and South Texans can go about their daily lives, knowing that water and waste disposal infrastructureisup-to-date,Congressman Gonzalez said.I thank the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Green Valley Special Utility District for working to ensure the health and safety of our citizens remains a top priority. Today's funding is a great investment in water infrastructure for residents in Guadalupe County,said Congressman Cuellar.These funds will not only provide households with better water services, but will also help meet heightened state treatment standards and the demands of this growing community. I would like to thank Congressman Vicente Gonzalez, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Green Valley Special Utility District for engaging in this critical mission. The funding will be dispersed through three Rural Development projects: An investment of$3,096,000for a wastewater buy-in project which involves purchasing capacity in two outside systems; An investment of$5,290,000will be used to construct two one-million gallon elevated storage tanks at Plant 3 and Plant 4; An investment of$5,430,000will be used to provide service along Weil Road which is located within the ETJs of the cities of Santa Clara and Cibolo. State and local government entities, private nonprofits, and federally-recognized tribesmay apply forthis program. Funding can be used for rural areas and towns with populations of 10,000 or less, tribal lands in rural areas, and Colonias. Applicants canconfirmeligibilityhere. Eligible applicants can either apply online by visiting theRD Apply tool, or through one of USDA Rural Development'sstate or field office.
