Since the pandemic started, the House of Representatives has held zero hearings on the origins of the virus and the Chinese Communist Party's coverup. "Americans deserve answers," said Graves. "Every mother who lost a son, every father who lost a daughter, child who lost a parent or grandparent—every American who lost a loved one deserves to know how this pandemic started. There is a growing body of evidence that suggests it may have started in a Chinese lab and the Chinese Communist Party covered it up. We have to investigate that and take steps to ensure nothing like this ever happens again." In the letter, the members request that Speaker Pelosi immediately direct the appropriate committee chairs to launch an investigation into the COVID-19 pandemic. The letter notes the recent revelation that three researchers from China's Wuhan Institute of Virology became ill and sought hospital care in November 2019, a full month before China publicly reported any cases of the virus. It also raises concerns that the World Health Organization failed to conduct a thorough and independent review of the origins of the virus and their report was heavily influenced by the Chinese Communist Party, which restricted access to raw data.
