Res 23 and 24 explicitly express Congressional disapproval over the Environmental Protection Agency’s rule relating to carbon pollution emission guidelines for coal, oil and natural gas, including the regulations for greenhouse gas emissions. These rules proposed by the EPA would devastate Wisconsin’s power producing plants and would cause escalating electricity prices for the citizens of Wisconsin. “Wisconsin residents shouldn’t have to worry about paying their electric bill, but the Obama Administration’s new rules ensure that Wisconsin’s electricity costs will surge,” said Congressman Grothman. “The EPA is not only hurting Wisconsin businesses, but also consumers. Make no mistake - this is cap and trade all over again. The EPA is looking to fundamentally change the way electricity is generated, consumed, and distributed.
