Today, the House of Representatives passed S. 1177, Every Student Succeeds Act, formally replacing No Child Left Behind. Included in this legislation is an amendment Congressman Glenn Grothman offered that will increase oversight by requiring reauthorization in four years instead of the six years that was originally included in the bill. The legislation now provides a four-year trial period to states and local school districts and allows the next Administration to make needed education reforms.By reauthorizing this legislation in four years instead of six, the next president will be able to work with state and local school districts to make any necessary changes to our education laws, said Congressman Grothman. Reducing the federal footprint in education empowers parents and provides local control to help every student succeed. Giving states and local school districts the needed flexibility to establish real education reform is an important step towards fixing our K-12 education system. U.S. Rep.
