In contrast, Congressman Guthrie cosponsored the Lower Costs, More Cures Act (H.R. 19), a bipartisan bill that would lower prescription drug prices. Republicans, Democrats, President Trump, doctors, pharmacists and patients: We all want lower drug prices, said Guthrie on the House floor last night. I was proud to cosponsor the Lower Costs, More Cures Act, a bill that includes only bipartisan solutions to lower drug prices. My Democratic colleagues have agreed to these provisions in the past. The Lower Costs, More Cures Act will allow for the continuation of lifesaving innovation in health care research while lowering drug prices for Kentuckians. Guthrie also spoke on the House floor about the consequences of a single payer health care system. In the United States, we have access to cutting edge innovative drugs, said Guthrie. The key word here is access. Under H.R. 3, we risk sacrificing this access for more bureaucracy and fewer cures. There are bipartisan solutions to lower drug prices, including H.R. 19, the Lower Costs, More Cures Act, that will level the playing the field for American consumers, and maintain innovation. Republicans introduced the Lower Costs, More Cures Act as an amendment to Speaker Pelosi's H.R. 3. Though the Lower Costs, More Cures Act did not pass on the House floor this afternoon, Congressman Guthrie is committed to lowering prescription drug prices.
