Through $11.2 billion in total loans to more than 100,000 small businesses across the state, the PPP has been critical to sustaining Minnesota's economy and workforce since the onset of the pandemic. It's unacceptable that Democrats continue to stall and play politics while small businesses fight just to keep their doors open. While Speaker Pelosi is dithering, Minnesotans are hurting, said Hagedorn. In August, House Republicans fought to free up $138 billion in unspent Paycheck Protection Program funds and permit small business to take out a second loan under the program. Unfortunately, not one of our Democrat colleagues joined us in the effort, and the American people are suffering as a result. It's time to put the partisan games aside and work with us to deliver much needed aid to American small businesses, workers and families, Hagedorn concluded. Watch the full press conference here. Jim Hagedorn was elected in 2018 to represent Minnesota's First District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He grew up on his family's grain and livestock farm near Truman. Jim's father, former U.S. Congressman Tom Hagedorn (MN-02), grandfather, and great-grandfather were all southern Minnesota farmers. Jim currently resides in the rural farming community of Blue Earth.
