While we appreciate previous COVID-related legislation in the House of Representatives addressed this important issue, we request Congress restore deductibility before the end of the year. If this notice is not corrected, the regulatory decision will damage the lasting success of the PPP program and hinder the small business economy's recovery from this crisis, the lawmakers wrote. The Paycheck Protection Program has been critical to the ability of small businesses across the country to maintain operations and keep Americans employed during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, as businesses are struggling to stay open through increased restrictions and statewide lockdowns, they simply cannot afford the surprise tax increases they will face if we do not restore deductions, said Hagedorn. He grew up on his family's grain and livestock farm near Truman. Jim's father, former U.S. Congressman Tom Hagedorn (MN-02), grandfather, and great-grandfather were all southern Minnesota farmers. Jim currently resides in the rural farming community of Blue Earth.
