Hageman and Congressional Republicans created this summer in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), also known as the Working Families Tax Cut. Additional funding will follow in the subsequent years. “This summer, Republicans in Washington delivered an unprecedented $50 billion investment in rural health care through the Rural Health Transformation Program enacted as part of the Working Families Tax Cuts legislation,” said Rep. Hageman. “Wyoming’s rural communities deserve reliable, high-quality health care without having to travel hundreds of miles. This initial $205 million investment strengthens our hospitals and clinics, supports the health care professionals who serve our communities, and expands access to care for families across Wyoming. It reflects a clear commitment to rural America and shows that Republicans and the Trump administration are delivering real, measurable results by prioritizing long-term sustainability of rural health care.” Background: Wyoming will be able to use this funding to address long-standing challenges unique to rural health care. The investment supports efforts to expand primary, preventive, maternal, emergency, and behavioral health services, recruit and retain a strong rural health workforce, and modernize aging facilities and technology. The program also encourages innovation, including telehealth, remote monitoring, and new models that help keep care local and sustainable. This program represents the largest federal investment in rural health care in American history. Congress created the initiative to ensure access to care does not depend on zip code and to give states flexibility to design solutions that reflect local needs.
