Harold "Hal" Rogers (KY-05) announced President Donald J. Trump's approval of public assistance in Kentucky for state and local governments, as well as some nonprofits, as recovery efforts continue from the deadly tornado in May and widespread flooding in April. "State and local officials have estimated millions of dollars in disaster recovery costs for debris removal, emergency protective measures, damaged infrastructure and mounting overtime work. This federal assistance is critical as our communities clean up and rebuild after these natural disasters," said Congressman Rogers, Dean of the House."Massive damages were sustained from the May EF-4 tornado at the London-Corbin Airport, South Kentucky RECC and many other public structures and utilities. Our communities simply cannot afford the growing recovery costs without federal assistance, so we deeply appreciate President Trump's approval." President Trump previously approved individual assistance for both disaster declarations, activating federal assistance for individuals and families who were impacted by the storms. The deadline to apply for individual assistance has been extended to August 22 for the May 16-17 tornado and severe storms. The following counties are now eligible for public assistance from the severe storms, straight-line winds and tornadoes that occurred on May 16-17, 2025 (DR-4875): Adair, Barren, Breathitt, Butler, Caldwell, Carlisle, Casey, Christian, Clay, Clinton, Crittenden, Estill, Jackson, Knott, Knox, LaRue, Laurel, Lee, Livingston, Logan, Lyon, Marshall, McCreary, Menifee, Metcalfe, Owsley, Powell, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Russell, Spencer, Todd, Trigg, Union, Warren, and Wayne Counties. The following counties are now eligible for public assistance from the severe storms and flooding that occurred April 2-May 16, 2025 (DR-4864): Allen, Barren, Breathitt, Breckinridge, Butler, Caldwell, Calloway, Campbell, Carroll, Carter, Casey, Christian, Clark, Edmonson, Elliott, Estill, Floyd, Franklin, Gallatin, Garrard, Graves, Grayson, Green, Greenup, Hancock, Hart, Henderson, Hickman, Hopkins, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Kenton, LaRue, Lawrence, Lee, Logan, Lyon, Magoffin, Marion, Martin, McLean, Meade, Metcalfe, Morgan, Muhlenberg, Nelson, Nicholas, Owen, Owsley, Pendleton, Perry, Powell, Rockcastle, Spencer, Taylor, Trigg, Trimble, Union, Warren, Washington, Webster, Wolfe, and Woodford Counties.
