I had not been consistently working a full-time job due to the economic times and we were having a hard time making ends meet. I wasstruggling to pay monthly bills, purchasing groceries, and paying my monthly mortgage payments regularly. My mortgage company began sending letters informing me of their intent to foreclose. I felt hopeless. I even ended up having to gointo the hospital because the stress was overwhelming. Where were we going to live? What was I going to do? I knew there were some options for full-time work right around the corner; however, I knew it wouldn't come intime to save my home. After some time, I received notice that my house was due to go to auction on Tuesday, and here I was on Friday with no options -- or so I thought. This notice came before the president placed amoratorium on evictions and foreclosures so I thought we were going to be homeless. On Saturday, my friend told me the only person she knew that could save my house at the last minute would be Congressman Johnson. She told me it was a long shot, but worth a try. I contacted Congressman Johnson's office onMonday (the day before my house was due to go to auction). I first spoke with Ms. Branche. She was extremely helpful but she said that I needed to speak with Xeron Pledger if I wanted this foreclosure stopped. After sharing my story, he went into overdrive to attempt to help me. Mr. Pledger told me that it would take a miracle to save it at this point,but he was willing to do all they could to help me. I completed some paperwork and he contacted Home Safe Georgia. After many hours of emailing paperwork back and forth and exchanging phone calls with Mr. Pledger and Ms. Lattimore from HomeSafe, plus lifting up prayers andcryingtears, at exactly 5:00 p.m., Xeron Pledger called me and told me that my home had been saved! I could not believe it! My house was due to go to auction the very next morning and they saved it!
