The visit included a campus tour and a roundtable discussion with CDC leadership and subject matter experts to discuss the Agency’s work in sickle cell disease, hepatitis c and HIV/AIDS, including the important work being done in Georgia. The Congressman’s visit concluded with a tour of CDC’s environmental health laboratory. “It was a great opportunity to see the world-renowned research done inside the CDC labs within my district that is helping find cures and treatments for diseases that impact so many here in Georgia, across the country and around the world” said Rep. Johnson. “My fellow Democrats and I are putting People Over Politics and increasing access to treatments for Americans that have chronic conditions. That’s why we have fought hard to bring down healthcare and prescription drug costs. Georgians and all Americans are benefiting from the critical changes we have made. I will keep fighting to make sure that every American can afford the healthcare and treatments they need.” The Congressman proudly voted to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, which includes tax credits that lower health care premiums, forces Big Pharma to negotiate lower prices for lifesaving prescription drugs, allows hearing aids to be purchased over the counter, and has capped insulin prices for Medicare beneficiaries at $35 a month.
