The bipartisan compromise package will provide another round of economic impact payments, this time worth $600. It will also shore up extended unemployment and the Paycheck Protection Program, which saved over 70,000 jobs in Rep. Harder's district. The bill is loosely based on a compromise plan floated by the Problem Solvers Caucus, a bipartisan group of 25 Democrats and 25 Republicans, which Rep. Harder belongs to. It's about time. People have been hurting without federal help for months. This bill will provide a booster for families struggling to pay bills and put food on the table. The average middle-class family of four will get $2,400. I would have liked more in direct payments, and support for cities facing budget crises, but compromises mean you don't always get everything you want. This bill also means that 750,000 Californians who were at risk of losing their only income the day after Christmas can enjoy the holiday without worrying about taking a cut.
