Americans deserve a government that can keep up, and creating a dedicated fraud division at the Department of Justice is a commonsense step toward doing that.” The National Fraud Enforcement Division Act establishes a permanent National Fraud Enforcement Division within the Department of Justice under the authority of the Attorney General. The division will be led by an Assistant Attorney General for National Fraud Enforcement, appointed by the President, providing a dedicated leadership structure within DOJ for federal fraud enforcement. The legislation also subjects the new division to federal restrictions on political activity, ensuring the officials responsible for carrying out its work are held to the same standards governing political activity that apply to other key components of the Department of Justice.
