Among those top concerns, Second Amendment rights, school discipline and sanctuary county laws. Harris said that he fully supports the conclusion of the Heller decision handed down by the United States that the right to possess firearms is an individual right rather than a collective right held by a government sanctioned militia, and he said that the current red flag law prototypes would take away the constitutional rights by ex parte legal proceedings, proceedings in which the subject of a judge's temporary ruling is not permitted to take part, and in Harris's estimation, is therefore denied their constitutional right to due process. The town hall format allowed for comments and questions from concerned citizens.
