The grant to Maryland is part of a $6 million allocation to states from the Bay Program to address agricultural nutrient runoff. A breakdown of state allocations is below: Pennsylvania: $3,695,112 Virginia: $1,110,191 Maryland: $695,940 Delaware: $364,540 New York: $79,536 West Virginia: $54,681 Rep. Andy Harris made the following statement: "As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I am proud to support funding of this critical program. Agricultural runoff is a significant contributor to harmful algal blooms in the Bay, and with this funding Maryland will be able to further its efforts to partner with farming operations to improve Bay health.
